Question: How do you build within the green belt?
Answer: Sink the building into the ground, clad it in natural weathering materials and roof it with grass.
This was a sensitive project due to its green belt location. A great amount of time and effort by the Architects provided a design that provided all the necessary functions and blended in with its location.
The construction has a piled foundation and reinforced concrete ground beams and walls. The exterior is clad in raw oak and the well-insulated roof covered in a sedam mat.
The interior is a robust functional design that’s fit for purpose.
The services element for drainage, electrical and gas supplies especially, proved to be a challenge due to the building’s remote location away from other properties.
